As a hypnotherapist, the two questions I get asked most often are: “does hypnosis work?” and “what is hypnosis like?” In the short video below I try and answer those questions and explain how hypnotherapy can help with a range of issues.

What is hypnosis?

Let me ask you this: have you ever been driving in your car, or perhaps looked out of the window on a long train journey and when you arrived at your destination there were parts of your journey you could not really remember? You were awake but in a dream like state? Then you have already experienced hypnosis!

Hypnosis is not something that is DONE to you; it’s a completely natural state. When you are in a hypnotic trance you are fully in control and able to open your eyes any time you wish. Hypnosis is a very relaxing state where your unconscious mind is more receptive to the healing suggestions made by the therapist. Most of the time our minds are so busy, thinking of a hundred different things at once. In this calm, dreamy state your mind can more easily unravel the issue that’s been bothering you, see things from a new perspective and break unhelpful patterns of behaviour that are causing you difficulty, leaving you free to make a fresh start. No wonder so many people leave their very first session of hypnosis feeling deeply relaxed and optimistic.

So perhaps a good question to ask might be:

Can hypnosis help me with the issue I am facing?

Perhaps you suffer from:

Hypnosis is scientifically proven to bring fast and effective help with so many problems. As I said above, most people will experience some relief after their very first session. Without talking to you I honestly don’t know if hypnosis will help you, but if you reach out I’m happy to discuss your issue with you and give you an honest opinion as to whether hypnosis may work for you. Please call me for a free twenty minute consultation, or contact me to find out more.

Make a positive change

Perhaps there is something about yourself you would like to change? You may be fully aware of what that problem is, or it could be something that’s always at the back of your mind, a feeling that something needs to change. Hypnotherapy can help you stop that self-critical inner voice and help you to begin thinking and acting positively - whatever your goal is.

Online hypnotherapy or face-to-face therapy. Which is best?

I see clients at my practice in St Albans and I can also work with you online. Neither is more effective than the other, the most important thing is to work with me in a way that suits you personally. Online hypnotherapy is certainly very effective. Others prefer to see me in person.
